The miner has been approached by several parties over a potential takeover, Shares has learnt. It is the only Aim-quoted company producing diamonds and gold in Sierra Leone. The country is becoming an easier place to do business with its government eager to attract foreign investment. The £9 million market cap company is seen as a good step up for a rival to launch wider mining operations in the region. In addition to Sierra Leone operations, WAD hopes to start production in Guinea this year on the Bomboko alluvial diamond project. It will update the market in the next few weeks on Droujba, a diamond exploration site also in Guinea.
